What is a Schengen Visa?

A Schengen visa is a travel authorisation which is issued by Schengen countries, allowing travelers to enter the country for short stays, long stays, and transit. There are various types of Schengen visa, which are:

• Type C: A short stay visa that allows you to travel & stay freely across the Schengen countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
• Type D visa: A long-stay visa that allows the traveler to stay in the Schengen region for more than 90 days. This is required for long-term purposes like employment, work, higher studies or family reunification.
• Type A visa: A transit visa that permits the traveler to transit through a Schengen airport en route to a non-Schengen country.
